About

Taiga Finance is a small, independent company with no investors. Our goal is to build the best personal finance app on the market.

We started Taiga Finance because we were tired of keeping our real finances in a spreadsheet.

The apps we tried could handle the everyday things: balances, transactions, a budget. But the things that mattered for the next ten years lived somewhere else. The stock grants and when they vest. The mortgage, and what it would take to pay it off early. What retirement looks like if one of us stops working for a year. All of that went into a spreadsheet, and the spreadsheet was always a little out of date.

So we built the app we wanted. It connects to your accounts and does the ordinary work for you: transactions come in, get categorized, and balances stay current. Then it keeps going, into the parts that usually end up in a spreadsheet. We built data-rich pages, custom reports, and scenario calculators that are in sync with your current finances. And it works for two people as well as it works for one.

How we make money

Our users pay for it with a simple-to-understand price. The details are on the pricing page.

In personal finance, how a company makes money tells you how their app will work. A free app is paid for by someone. Usually that means ads, or a fee when you open the credit card it recommended, or selling what it knows about you. We do none of that.

Who we answer to

Taiga Finance has no investors. We’re bootstrapped, we haven’t taken venture money, and we don’t plan to. This means we can build the app we and our users want, without outside pressure to gate features behind a premium tier.
