Terms
Updated
Taiga Finance LLC, a Minnesota limited liability company (“Taiga Finance”, “we”, “us”)
Version 2 · Effective October 2, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Taiga Finance for the Taiga Finance app and website. You accept them by agreeing to them when you first sign in and by continuing to use the service afterwards. The Privacy Policy and the federal privacy notice, shown with these terms, are part of the agreement. Read section 4 (what Taiga Finance is and is not) and section 12 (disputes) with particular care.
1. Who can use Taiga Finance
- You must be at least 18, old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and living in the United States.
- The service is for your own personal, family, or household finances, not for a business, other people’s money, or an advisor’s clients.
- You confirm that you are not on a United States sanctions list or in a country under a United States embargo, and that you will not use the service in a way that breaks sanctions or export-control law.
2. Your account
Your email address is the key to your account: keep it current in Settings and keep that mailbox secure. If you lose access to it, we cannot move the account to another address on request; the address can be changed only from inside a signed-in session.
Do not share your account. You are responsible for what is done with it until you tell us, at the address in section 13, that someone else may have used it.
3. Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation
Taiga Finance needs a paid subscription or a free trial. The price and billing period are shown before you subscribe.
Automatic renewal. A subscription renews at the end of each billing period, and your payment method is charged at the start of the new period at the price then in effect, until you cancel.
Free trials. A free trial converts to a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel first. The trial length and the price that follows are shown before you start.
Cancelling. Cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Switching plans. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing from Settings; the new price and billing period are shown before you confirm, and we email them to you with the next charge date. A switch to yearly takes effect when you confirm it, and you are charged the yearly price that day, less a credit for the unused part of the month. A switch to monthly takes effect when the current yearly period ends, with no refund of that period. During a free trial, a switch changes the price that follows the trial, not the day it ends.
No refunds. Payments are not refundable, including for a period you have partly used. We may refund a payment as a goodwill gesture in a particular case, but we are never obliged to.
Payment disputes. If you have a problem with a charge, email us first. If you dispute a charge with your card issuer or bank without contacting us, we may suspend your account while the dispute is open.
Price changes. When we change the price of a plan, the new price takes effect for you only when your current plan term has ended. We notify you before then, and you can cancel before it applies. A switch you make yourself takes effect as described above.
Renewal reminders. At least once a year we remind you that your subscription renews, and before a yearly renewal we tell you the amount and the date.
When a subscription ends. Without a current subscription or trial, your account is read-only: you can still see and export your data and manage or delete your account, but not add new data. We may delete the data of an account that stays read-only, after notifying you; the Privacy Policy says how long it is kept.
4. What Taiga Finance is, and is not
Taiga Finance is a tool that organizes your own financial information and shows it back to you. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and we are not an investment adviser, broker, bank, lender, tax preparer, or fiduciary. The app describes your numbers; nothing in it is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, borrow, repay, save, or spend.
Nothing in the app is a forecast. A payoff date, a retirement projection, a scenario, a net-worth path, or any other number about the future is arithmetic on inputs you chose and assumptions you can see, not a prediction or a promise, and past results say nothing about future ones.
The app can be wrong, and you accept it as it is. We work hard to be accurate, but bank data can arrive delayed, incomplete, or wrong from your institution or the connection service, and it reflects the last sync, not this minute. Categories and merchant names, some assigned by AI, can be mislabeled; an imported file or statement can be misread; a calculation can contain a mistake. The chat assistant answers from your own data, can be wrong in the same ways, and is designed not to give advice; if it ever seems to, treat that as an error. Your institution’s own records are the ones that count: check them before you rely on a figure here, whether for a decision with money, a tax return, a loan application, or any filing.
We do not hold, move, or touch your money.
5. Your data, and what we may do with it
Your financial information is yours. You give us permission to store, process, and display it, to pass parts of it to the service providers described by category in the Privacy Policy, and to use it in aggregate or de-identified form to understand how the service is used and to improve it, in each case only to run, secure, and improve the service and to meet our legal duties. We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or give it to anyone to decide your eligibility for anything.
One shared use exists: what the app works out about a transaction description may be reused for other customers. Another customer gets only the answer, never whose transaction it came from. The Privacy Policy explains these shared lookups.
You can export your data from Settings at any time. You are responsible for having the right to enter or upload what you put in the app, for example a statement that also shows someone else’s information.
6. Bank connections and other services
You can connect financial accounts through a bank-connection service we work with. You enter your bank sign-in details with that service, in its own screens, never with us; we never see or store them. That service’s own terms and privacy policy are shown to you, unaltered, when you connect.
Before a connection opens we ask for your express consent. By connecting you authorize us to receive the account, balance, transaction, holdings, and loan data you agree to share and to use it as these terms and the Privacy Policy describe. You can withdraw that consent at any time from Settings, which stops syncing and ends the connection; you choose whether the data it brought in is kept or deleted.
No financial institution sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with Taiga Finance, and no part of your subscription fee is a charge for access to any institution. A connection can break when an institution or the service changes something.
You may sign in with, export to, or receive notifications through services run by other companies, such as a third-party sign-in, a spreadsheet you own, or your device’s notification service. Their terms and privacy policies govern what happens there. A spreadsheet you export to is yours and stays yours after you disconnect.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- resell or share the data you get through the service;
- scrape, crawl, or run automated tools against the service, or get around a limit, a security measure, or the sign-in process;
- copy or reverse engineer the service, or build a competing product or an AI model from it or its output;
- upload malware or content you have no right to, or do anything unlawful, deceptive, or harmful to other users, our providers, or us.
8. Households
You can share your account with one other person as a household. Each of you has your own sign-in, and one of you is the admin. The admin manages the subscription, invitations, and who is in the household, and can remove the other member or hand the admin role to them; one subscription covers both of you. We act on the admin’s instructions for the household and do not mediate disputes between members.
What each of you sees of the other’s data is set inside the app, account by account, as the Privacy Policy describes. Those are product settings, not a legal wall: shared totals still reconcile, a note can show that some rows are kept separate, the admin can remove a member, and software can have bugs. For anything the other person must never see, the only reliable choice is a separate household of your own.
Removal deletes that member’s sign-in and the data they did not share with the household, including accounts shown only as a balance and the rows they marked private; data shared with the household, joint accounts included, stays with the account. A member leaves by deleting their own sign-in, with the same effect. Either way, the bank connections that member made are ended, and a joint account that only their connection updated stops updating until the other member connects it. The admin leaves either by handing the admin role to the other member and then deleting their own sign-in, or by deleting the whole account and everything in it. By joining a household you agree to these effects.
9. Changes to the service, and ownership
Features can change, be renamed, or be removed, and a feature marked beta or early may be rough. We may put daily limits on features that cost us money to run, such as AI features and exports.
The app, its design, and its code belong to Taiga Finance or its licensors; you have a personal, non-transferable right to use them under these terms. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. No warranty, and the limit of our liability
The service is provided as it is and as it is available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including that the service will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or free of errors, or that it is fit for a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, the total liability of Taiga Finance and its owners, contractors, and service providers to you for all claims arising from the service or these terms is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose and one hundred dollars ($100). None of us is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, lost data, or a decision you made using the service, however caused and under any legal theory.
These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including to our own fraud or willful misconduct; where a state limits them, our liability is limited to the smallest amount that state allows. We are not responsible for a delay or failure caused by something outside our reasonable control, including an institution, a connection service, or another provider cutting off or changing its service.
You will defend and indemnify Taiga Finance and its owners against claims, losses, and reasonable costs arising from your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of the law or of someone else’s rights.
11. Ending the relationship
By you. Delete your account from Settings at any time; export a copy first if you want to keep one. Deletion is permanent and ends your bank connections at the connection service; the Privacy Policy says what remains afterwards and for how long.
By us. We may suspend or close your account, or change or stop offering the service, at any time, with or without notice, including for suspected fraud, a payment dispute, or abuse of the AI or export limits. Where we reasonably can, we tell you first so that you can export your data.
Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13 continue to apply after your account ends, as do any amounts you owe under section 3 and, from section 5, only the permission to keep aggregate or de-identified information and the shared lookups.
12. How disputes are resolved
Talk first. Before either of us starts a court case, the one with the problem emails the other (for you, the address in section 13; for us, the address on your account) with their name, the email address on the account, a description of the problem, and what they want done, and both of us try to resolve it informally for 30 days. A claim filed without this step is paused until it is done.
Small claims. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court if it qualifies there: for you, the small claims court where you live or the one in Hennepin County, Minnesota; for us, the one where you live.
No jury trial. Both of us give up the right to a jury trial, to the extent the law allows.
Law and courts. Minnesota law governs these terms, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any other claim, including a request to stop misuse of the service, is brought in the state or federal courts in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
A change to this section does not apply to a dispute that has already begun.
13. Changes, notices, and the rest
Changes to these terms. We may change these terms. We tell you about a material change by email or in the app before it takes effect, and the current version, with its effective date, is always at taiga.finance/terms/. Using the service after a change takes effect means you accept it; if you do not agree, delete your account before then.
Notices. You agree to receive notices, disclosures, and other communications from us electronically, by email to the address on your account or in the app, and that they count as if they were on paper. You need a device with email and a web browser to receive them. You can withdraw this consent or ask for a paper copy, at no charge, by emailing us, though the service runs on email and withdrawing may mean closing your account. Send notices to us at hello@taiga.finance or by mail to Taiga Finance LLC, 330 S Second Ave, Suite 200 1912, Minneapolis, MN 55401. Legal process may be served on our registered agent, listed with the Minnesota Secretary of State. Report a security vulnerability to security@taiga.finance.
The rest. These terms, the Privacy Policy, the federal privacy notice, and any consent text you accept in the app are the whole agreement between you and us about the service. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term once, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms or your account to anyone else; we may transfer them to a successor that takes over the service.
